ESI Unveils LED Tester at SEMICON West Expo

Provider of laser-based manufacturing systems, ESI has unveiled the Model 3800 LED tester that allows testing of packaged LED modules with low cost of ownership. The LED tester features a bulk-to-bin handler that delivers a productivity of over 99.9% and improves the throughput by more than 100%. The company exhibited the LED tester at the SEMICON West conference in San Francisco.

The LED tester has a gentle rotary loader on the LED packages to decrease the chip damage significantly. The indexed carriers of the tester sustain LEDs in a nest and eradicate scrapped and dropped devices. The bulk-to-bin handler simultaneously processes two LEDs and attains a maximum productivity rate of 48,000 LEDs/hr.

The tester also has multiple test stations that maintain a very high throughput and its binning process does not need actuated switches/gates. The binning process does not restrict throughput and virtually eradicates throughput. The tester also has a configurable platform that enables the device to test numerous types of LEDs.

The company is a provider of automated solutions that are used for inspecting and testing tiny, electronic units. It has used its binning, testing, and component handling technologies to decrease the ownership cost for manufacturing LEDs.
