TE Connectivity (TE) declared that it has entered into a multi-year supply agreement with Lumexis for its rugged fiber optic products. This enhances an in-flight entertainment product line from Lumexis through "Fiber to The Screen" (FTTS) technology that produces results using SWaP by considerably lowering weight, size, and power remarkably, while enhancing system performance simultaneously.
CEO Doug Cline of Lumexis stated that they have chosen TE Connectivity as a supply partner to take advantage of the advanced fiber optics technology. Cline added that they also wanted to make sure there was an uninterrupted supply source to meet their rapidly growing demand.
The FTTS interconnect and fiber-optic backbone program offers effective installation, which minimizes the revenue loss due to time out of service. With the FTTS design, Lumexis offers a strong and low-maintenance fiber-optic IFE solution that is useful for airline services on a daily basis. To solve the issue, Lumexis collaborated with TE to make advancements in fiber-optic technology.
The TE Business Development Manager, Global AD&M, Earle Olson, stated that they entered into collaboration with Lumexis to make innovations using TE’s advanced fiber optic technology.
The FTTS system integrates a flexible routing method with ARINC 801 fiber-optic interfaces of industry standards to enable space for growth, while delivering long-term cost savings through lower applied and installation costs.
