Bezeq, a telecommunications service provider in Israel, has deployed the Ekinops 360 optical transport and DWDM platform to connect its sites in the northern and southern parts of the country. The platform enhances Bezeq’s advanced IP and broadband services.
Ekinops, a designer and supplier of optical transport equipment for enterprise customers and service providers, has provided the next generation optical equipment. Bezeq has been upgrading its network and is on a mission to deploy a next generation network (NGN) for enhancing its new IP telephony and high-speed broadband services to commercial and residential customers.
The Ekinops 360 provides both CWDM and DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) technology in a single solution to address regional, long haul and metro applications. It has dynamic multiplexing functionality, DynaMux, forward error correction, DynaFEC, and the long-reach and low-cost 40G technology, WaveBonding.
The network data traffic that originates from multiple fiber optic cables is consolidated onto a single cable using the DWDM technology. This frees up fiber cables for other potential uses. The NGN has the ability to deliver speeds of 400 Gb/s for every fiber cable and can carry Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5G SDH and 10G Ethernet services.
