GigOptixs declared that an optical engine producer in Taiwan has started the production of GigOptix’ HXT/R4 chip-set for 40G Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) Active Optical Cable (AOC) application.
GigOptix offers superior performance electro-optic and electronic components for advanced 100 and 40 G optical networks. The HXT/R4 chip-set is designed to endorse various applications ranging between 5 and 10 Gb/s per channel. Its sophisticated features allow clients to maximize the transaction between the optical link’s performance and power dissipation. The HXT/R4 chip-set demonstrated data transmission over a 100 m link with total power dissipation of less than 100 mW.
In addition, the company’s innovative design allows clients to investigate their products’ status thoroughly after attaching the fiber. This feature facilitates clients to investigate and monitor the function of the photo diode and vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) equipment within the optical engines, resulting in considerable cost savings.
The HXT/R4 chip-set is developed for applications in QSFP, SNAP12 and Infiniband AOC optical modules, while assisting the emerging markets of superior performance computing optical interconnects, router and switch optical backplanes, and the upcoming 40 and 100 G Ethernet standards.
According to Jay de la Barre, who serves as Vice President of Global Sales at GigOptix, the company is happy to work with leading firms utilizing advanced silicon bench technology as well as GigOptix’ VCSEL receiver and driver array chip-set for producing their products.
