National to Showcase LED Driver at Guangzhou Lighting Exhibition

National Semiconductor has released an integrated LED driver that will be showcased at the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition in Guangzhou.

The LM3466 LED driver simplifies the design of wide area lighting solutions like streetlights. It offers a comprehensive system with few inactive components, which drives every LED string from any AC/DC power supply.

The LED driver integrates a 1.5 A N-Channel MOSFET and uses a distinct control scheme. A basic design of one LED driver along with one capacitor and one resistor is used for driving a string of LEDs. It has an input of 6 to 70 V and also incorporates a thermal shutdown, current limit, input under voltage lockout, and fault status output protection. Each LED driver conducts a maximum current of 1.5 A and functions with less overhead voltage to enhance electrical efficiency.

A vibrant current equalizing control procedure allows communication between each LED driver to split current ratiometrically or equally among multiple LED strings. The LED string equalizes the current in the remaining strings automatically during an open string state. This enables the driver to maintain constant output power and binning of LEDs is not needed.
