Luminus Devices, a developer and manufacturer of solid-state light sources for lighting applications, has introduced the high brightness SSM-80 LED for general lighting purposes.

The warm white LED is suitable for indoor spot, directional, focused, and narrow beam down lighting applications.
The SSM-80 provides a maximum of 1,600 lumens and can achieve nearly 100 LPW at 350mA at a range of color points from 2700 K to 4000 K. It is compatible with commercially available ballasts and drivers and has a normal surface mount package. The LED light works on a typical voltage of 12 V and 1.0 A current. It has an L70 lifetime of more than 60,000 hours and a thermal resistance that is less than 1.0 °C/W. The LED can achieve light intensity levels nearly equivalent to that provided by the ceramic metal halides.
Luminus Devices is to commence shipping of the SSM-80 LEDs in late summer.
