Oclaro, a company specializing in laser solutions and optical communications, has expanded its two ultra-power laser diode product portfolios with the introduction of the future-generation products, the OPC880 and the BLM9xx/10xx.
The latest laser diode products demonstrate enhanced durability, performance and cost- effectiveness. They are suitable for direct diode and Diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) pumping uses.
The OPC880, a 60-W continuous wave (CW) low filling factor bar at the wavelength range between 875 nm and 890 nm, will be employed in the company’s fiber coupled packages, proprietary Prosario collimated modules and will also be offered as a passively cooled bar. By scaling the current OPC portfolio’s wavelength range, the latest OPC880 can be used for the expanding neodymium-vanadate and 880nm neodymium-YAG pumping market.
The BLM9xx/10xx is a compact, conductively cooled, ultra-power product. This laser diode offers an output power of 120 W at a wavelength range of between 910 nm and 1070 nm. It substitutes micro-channel coolers in horizontal patterns. It employs electrical mechanical mounting and connection instead of wire bonding or soldering in order to facilitate integration.
According to Bernd Meyer, who leads Oclaro’s High Power Laser Business, the company has the production experience and technology backup to continually enhance the efficacy and power of its current product portfolios.
