Philips Launches EnduraLED A21

Royal Philips Electronics, a diversified lighting, lifestyle and healthcare company, has added the EnduraLED A21 17 W to its portfolio of LED bulbs designed for replacing traditional incandescent bulbs. Philips’ existing portfolio includes 12.5, 25 and 40 W equivalents.

The EnduraLED A21 17 W LED bulb with high-power LUXEON LEDs can deliver soft white light of 1100 lm, with 2700k color temperature and has an 80 color rendering index. It is the world’s first LED bulb designed to replace 75W incandescent light bulbs. The LED bulb has a 25,000 h rated life, which is 25 times longer than the rated life of normal incandescent bulbs. It also reduces consumption of energy by 80%. The LED bulb is compatible with standard dimmers and can fit into the existing fixtures. The company plans to submit the EnduraLED A21 for qualification testing to ENERGY STAR.

The EnduraLED A21 would provide substantial savings for applications in households and in the retail and hospitality sectors. Philips is to launch the LED bulb at the 2011 LIGHTFAIR International tradeshow in Philadelphia, USA.
