Energy Focus, a company providing energy saving lighting technologies, has unveiled a LED Retrofit Kit engineered to substitute High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting from the available Wallpack luminaires.
The LED Retrofit Kit consumes merely 31 W when compared to the 175-W HID lamps’ consumption of 210 W, saving over 179 W of energy. According to Steve Gasperson, who serves as President of LED products division at Energy Focus, the product is produced using the company-owned versatile thermal management solution, making the company to fix almost all the available Wallpack deployments.
Gasperson further said that the replacement of Wallpack luminaires is complex and costly, as most of them are mounted at a height of 15 to 20 ft. on the outside of the industrial facilities. Thus, exhausted lamps are not replaced, he added. The unit with flexible mounting brackets can be centered and targeted in a cluster of available luminaires, resulting in an easy-to-deploy solid-state lighting system, he said. The LED Retrofit Kit for Wallpack luminaires provides an operating life of 50,000 h, he concluded.
The Chief Executive Officer at Energy Focus, Joe Kaveski, stated that the company developed the LED Retrofit Kit particularly for the retrofit market. Due to the facts of low deployment expenditure, a10-year operating life and energy conservation up to 85%, the product’s payback period is one to two years, enabling it as the suitable product for illuminating retrofit projects.
