Ultratech, provider of laser-processing and lithography systems for the production of high-brightness LEDs (HB-LEDs) and semiconductor equipment, has established an Asia Technology Center (ATC) in Taiwan.
The ATC features an integrated dirt-free room to perform detailed demonstrations of the company’s advanced Sapphire 100 lithography system. The system is engineered for HB-LED market customers. The center will allow economical, advanced development processes to customers located across the Pacific Rim. The ATC is slated to open in the H2 of 2011.
According to Arthur W. Zafiropoulo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Ultratech, since most of the company’s customers are based in the Pacific Rim, the establishment of the Asia Technology Center in Taiwan would enable Ultratech to work with major players to design advanced lithography devices and processes and in turn reduce LED production expenditures.
Zafiropoulo further said that the ATC will be involved in offering economical patterning solutions and yield research. The company continues to explore various avenues to offer cost-effective solutions for the development of the HB-LED market, he added.
