Applied Concepts declared that it will introduce its latest product called Smart-Drive Advanced LED Drivers during 2011 Display Week at the 49th SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition to be conducted at the Los Angeles Convention Center from 15 to 20 May, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Applied Concepts produces power conversion and display systems mainly for flat-panel display backlit applications. The Smart-Drive LED driver has sophisticated attributes that enable the user to tailor software through a compact CD or download from the Applied Concepts’ website. End users can customize driver-controlling factors, including ambient light sensing, analog vs button dimming control and dimming curve such as logarithmic or linear.
The Smart-Drive offers black-box data retention/collection of performance properties such as temperature, current and voltage and real-time telemetry for failure and diagnostic mode analysis. It uses Applied Concepts’ proprietary Mixed-Mode dimming (amplitude/PWM) capability that produces little to no EMI, while offering steady, ultra-wide dimming.
At the show, Applied Concepts will exhibit the LED drivers as well as a partner board comprising ambient light sensing choices, a button control and dimming potentiometer. The inclusion of board will streamline the development and testing procedure of the LCD display solution.
According to Stephen Soos, who serves as Vice President of Engineering at Applied Concepts, the Smart-Drive LED driver is the result of years of working together with challenging clients in the industrial, avionics and military industries. Previously, the company used to change the attributes of the drivers based on the requirements of customers, but now with the Smart Drive, more number of options are available to them, he added.
