Provider of Internet network semiconductor solutions, PMC-Sierra proclaimed that its HyPHY chipset has been chosen by FiberHome, pioneer in fiber-optic communications systems, for FiberHome’s FONST Series portfolio of WDM optical transmission systems.
The combination of the HyPHY porfolio’s multi-service functionalities and the FONST solutions’ modular architecture delivers the functionalities demanded by various global network installations. FiberHome’s transponders and muxponders make telecommunication carriers to install expandable, superior power OTN networks to meet the expanding bandwidth demands triggered by cloud and IPTV services, Carrier Ethernet, 4 G and 3 G mobile services.
The OTN technology-based WDM products, FONST Series exhibits expandability of up to 3.85TB/s capacity. The portfolio provides a reliable functionality to collect, inter-connect and transmit an extensive range of protocols from video over converged OTN networks, Fiber Channel/SAN, Ethernet and SONET/SDH. It offers improved switching technology for both electrical and optical layers.
According to Fan Zhiwen, who works as Vice-General Manager of Transport Business Unit at FiberHome, PMC-Sierra’s HyPHY chipset eradicates the needs for multiple designs and provides even capability throughout FiberHome’s platforms, which in turn reduce development expenditures and power consumption.
According to Babak Samimi, who works as Vice President of Marketing and Applications of Communication Products Division at PMC-Sierra, the company is happy to bring the HyPHY chipset to the market in partnership with FiberHome and to grow the company’s participation in the global OTN network deployments.
