EvoLucia, a LED lighting division of Sunovia Energy Technologies, has received the Best Outdoor Street Light award for its SCHX5 LED Cobra Head light in the 2010 Next Generation Luminaires Solid State Lighting Design Competition.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) gave the awards for the competition.
EvoLucia has incorporated its Aimed Optics technology, a patent pending solution, in the LED Cobra Head light that reduces the light needed in a particular area by 10% when focused correctly. The luminaire is designed for roadways and parking areas. The light has unique optical light patterns that reduce energy usage by 10% and increases the efficiency of the lighting by 20%, when compared to similar products in the market.
The DOE, IES and IALD judging panel evaluated the lights by focusing on highest efficiency and uniformity, efficient optics, maximum thermal management and lowest glare. In the competition, the Sunovia SCHX5 light achieved a 57 Fitted Target Efficacy score, placing the most amount of footcandles on the ground in the required pattern. It utilized minimum LEDs, consumed less energy and displayed optimum uniformity.
