LightPath Introduces Molded Infrared Aspheres for Thermal Imagers

LightPath Technologies, specialist in optical components and assemblies, has expanded its range of infrared optics with the addition of new molded infrared aspheres. The low-cost Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) lenses are targeted at the $2.5 billion infrared markets.

The LWIR lenses are designed for thermal imaging in security cameras and can be applied in different applications including enhancement of driver vision systems in automobiles and firefighting and homeland security.

LightPath has manufactured the lens from its Black Diamond chalcogenide glass, which costs less than diamond-turned Zinc Selenide and Germanium optics. The LWIR lenses have a focal length of f/1.3 and 7.7 mm and have been optimized for usage with advanced 640x512, 17 µ pixel IR detectors from prominent suppliers of thermal imaging cameras.
