M/A-COM Technology Solutions declared that it has bought Optomai, a privately owned semiconductor firm specializing in integrated, ultra-performance modules and circuits for 100 and 40 Gbps fiber optic networks, for an undisclosed amount.
Optomai’s extensive experience in InP and GaAs circuit design as well its product range will set of M/A-COM Tech’s Point-to-Point/Infrastructure and CATV/Broadcast businesses and will speed up the latter’s entry in the expanding optical communications market. Optomai manufactures transimpedance amplifiers and 100 and 40 G modulator drivers for both client side and line side uses.
With this acquisition, M/A-COM Tech gets Optomai’s engineering and business professionals who have vast experience in the optical communications market.
The CEO at M/A-COM Tech, Chuck Bland stated that Optomai’s products offer economical and advanced solutions for ultra-speed 100/40 G networks and its team has the experience to promote the growth of M/A-COM Tech’s fiber optic business.
According to Vivek Rajgarhia, who serves as General Manager at M/A-COM Tech’s Optoelectronics business unit, M/A-COM Tech’s brand recognition, operational scale and market channels will assist the growth of Optomai’s products in the market.
