Provider of electro-optic and electronic parts for fiber-optic solutions, GigOptix proclaimed that it has secured a purchase order worth $750,000 from its tier 1 telecom client to supply its 100G quad-driver called GX62450 100G DP-QPSK (Dual Polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) driver.
GigOptix’s telecom customer will use the 100G quad-driver for its 100 G Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing networking systems. GigOptix will supply the products in the Q2 and Q3 of 2011.
The GX62450 100G DP-QPSK driver is developed for use with current Mach-Zehnder and 100 G Multiplexer Modulators. The GPPO connectorized form factor of the GX62450 assures maximum radiofrequency connection to the 100 G optical modulator inputs. In addition, it takes up least board-level area than other surface mounted device systems.
The Vice President of Marketing, Padraig O’Mathuna stated that the demand for 100 G solutions has increased due to increased requirement for additional bandwidth in cloud and IPTV services, smartphone utilization and similar data and video applications. He continued that in order to meet the content delivery demands of customers, ultra-speed optical links will be required for advanced wireless and wired networks. The company expects strong demand for its 100 G solutions in fiscal 2011, he added.
