Diodes Unveils New LED Driver with 98% Efficiency

A new LED driver, AL8806, has been launched by Diodes Incorporated, a global provider of high-quality application products for the analog, logic, and discrete semiconductor markets. It is ideal for applications in MR16 lamp and 24 V and 12 V LED bulb design.

The buck LED driver has a capacity to produce a maximum of 1.5 A current in a voltage range of 6 to 30 V. The AL8806 component assures a 5% average accuracy of LED current, which helps in boosting the inter-lamp luminance matching.

The multi-die package LEDs needs current levels of more than 1A. The AL8806’s high current managing capacity help meet this requirement. The LED driver is about 98% efficient and provides a simple and cost-effective solution. It supports high LED current drive at greater operating temperatures.

The AL8806 aids in decreasing the size of supporting peripheral devices when it is switched to a frequency of 1 MHz and its maximum output current is set through a resistor. This results in reduced PCB size.
