Elbit to Provide Joint Terminal Attack Controller Laser Target Designator to US Marines Corps

Elbit Systems of America, a company that provides high performance system solutions and products for the defense, commercial aviation, medical instrumentation and homeland security markets, has been awarded a $9.6 million contract to provide the Joint Terminal Attack Controller Laser Target Designator (JTAC LTD) to the United States Marine Corps System Command in Virginia.

Elbit’s JTAC LTD is a laser target designator and marker that will facilitate targets to be designated for laser-guided missiles and bombs. The unit is small in size, lightweight and powered by battery, enabling Marines to carry them. It has a high power near infrared laser pointer for use during nighttime conditions. The JTAC LTD includes Elbit’s miniaturized Rattler designator. The unit also has the capability to provide target hand-off to aircraft Laser Spot Trackers. The JTAC LTD is interoperable with Elbit’s AN/PAS-25 Thermal Laser Spot Imager and is designed to supplement Elbit’s AN/PEQ-17 portable lightweight designator rangefinder.

Elbit Systems has been awarded the contract for three first article units and 150 production units along with spares and training. The optional logistics support, if included, may increase the value of the contract to $10.8 million.
