Lustrous Technology, supplier of ultra-power LED packages, anticipates that the shipment of its high-voltage LED products would reach one million in fiscal 2011. The company is currently in the process of enhancing its high-voltage LED technology.
Lustrous Technology’s products are based on a high-voltage LED chip packaging technology, which was developed by Delta Electronics and Epistar. They supply related products to LED chip packagers and lighting vendors such as Lustrous Technology, Edison Opto and Everlight Electronics, Philips and Osram. Lustrous is one of the three major customers of Epistar’s LED chips and has designed its proprietary high-pressure LED chip packaging technology.
According to Lustrous, the high-voltage LED products have size and cost benefits but are restricted by driver technology, which reduces the performance of DC LED products by 10% to 15%. The company is now working on enhancing the driver technology and expects to proclaim new solutions in April or May 2011. Product shipment is anticipated in the Q2 of 2011.
Lustrous will supply high-voltage LED products to two ODM customers for the North American market in April 2011. Television manufacturer, Vizio will introduce its first LED light bulbs using Lustrous’ LED chip packaging technology.
