UL Acquires Lighting Sciences to Meet the Growing Demands of Solid State Lighting Markets

A global safety science company, UL has announced that it has acquired Lighting Sciences. A technology provider of photometric test equipment, testing services and advisory services, Lighting Sciences will henceforth be an entity of UL's Verification Services business, which offers inspection, performance testing and auditing for retailers and manufacturers across the globe.

The CEO and President of UL, Keith Williams stated that the acquisition will enable them to serve firms in the Solid State Lighting markets. Williams added that the technological advancements in the lighting industry and governing authorities demand a deeper look into developing safer and more efficient products. Now lighting developers can come to UL for certification of their products.

UL is dedicated to proactively developing its photometric testing capabilities and Lighting Sciences will help strengthen its market position and cater to the Solid State Lighting industry.
