Zhone Technologies has partnered with Myakka Communications to deploy its Active Ethernet (AE) and Gigabit Passive Optical Network solutions to provide broadband services for 1,200 business and residential customers in Florida’s Sarasota and Manatee counties.
Myakka will apply the Zhone MXK Optical Line Termination with Zhone Network Interface Device (zNID) Optical Network Terminal to provide reliable and affordable Voip and high-speed Internet access. It is also capable of providing advanced video services to local businesses, schools and residential customers.
The complete development and manufacture of Zhone’s zNIDs and MXK platform solutions is being completed at the manufacturing facility based in Largo.
The CEO of Myakka Communications, Charles Matson stated that it is essential to partner with Zhone, which offers local support and ensures a smooth transition for the customers.
Zhone’s MXK platform enables Myakka to sustain bandwidth demands produced by HD digital video recorder content, video streaming and HD television screens. The flexibility offered by Zhone EZ Touch Provisioning system reduces installation time and any customer-centric issue during the roll-out of existing services or addition of sophisticated services in the future. The platform also adapts to specific field requirements, which ensure value proposition as well as maximum savings. The MXK platform is the first terabit access concentrator in the market.
The Chief Marketing Officer of Zhone, Brian Caskey stated that the partnership will allow them to work with customers such as Yadkin Valley Telephone, Shawnee Telephone and Hardy Telecommunications. Caskey also added that rural service areas will be able to access advanced data, voice and video services.
