Main Light Industries Rolls Out LED-Powered LightStar Fibre Optic Illuminator

Main Light Industries has unveiled the LightStar fibre optic illuminator with LED light engine. It is a part of the company’s FiberLamp product series.

The LED light engine features white, blue, green and red LEDs to offer more color options and simultaneously reduces the weight to up to 5 lb. Its power consumption is also reduced as it uses only 2 A of current.

The LED-powered LightStar fibre optic illuminator

The LightStar fibre optic illuminator generates an output, which is equal to a fiber optic illuminator utilizing a 150 W metal halide light. The LightStar’s output is comparable to a 150 W metal halide light-based illuminators in a white color mix. The LED light engine eliminates the transmission loss with a color filter and thus, in saturated, deep colors, the LightStar’s output is comparable to 250 W illuminators.

The Manager at Main Light Industries, Giovanni Ciranni, stated that the LightStar removes the requirement for a conventional color wheel and thus is not restricted to three or four colors on the wheel, revolving at a constant speed.

The LightStar features complete DMX functionality for remote control. By utilizing Ethernet RJ-45 in-and-out or five-pin XLR connectors, the illuminator can be daisy chained with up to 30 units through DMX control. The illuminator’s integrated DMX-based master-slave feature enables one unit to control and coordinate the activities of the other units, including twinkling and dimming. The LightStar can be used as an individual product or can be managed locally at the illuminator.
