Coherent Introduces High Peak Power Laser for Multiphoton Excitation Imaging Applications

Coherent has introduced a new laser called the Chameleon Vision-S that sets a new benchmark for multiphoton imaging by coupling short pulsewidths of 80 fs with long wavelength tuning range and optimal average power.

Chameleon Vision-S

The Chameleon Vision-S, after Group Velocity Dispersion precompensation, offers a usable peak power of over 410 kW as well as hands-free tuning between 690 to 1050 nm. The mix of high average power and short pulsewidths convert into a maximum precompensated peak power currently produced from ‘one-box’ lasers.

The laser is suitable for multiphoton excitation (MPE) imaging applications as its peak power offers optimal imaging brightness in deeper tissues. The one-box laser features the Group Velocity Dispersion precompensator and laser oscillator and offers exceptional  beam pointing stability of 80 microrad/100 nm of tuning.

The Group Velocity Dispersion precompensator offers flawless automatic tuning of negative dispersion between 0 and 43,000 fs², resulting in better pulse duration flexibility at the sample also in advanced microscopes with multiple AO modulators. These microscopes offer quick scanning of particular image sections in neuroscience that demand high frame rates to track dynamic results in real-time. The laser’s circular TEM00 Gaussian output beam with a value M² less than 1.1 optimizes the image resolution at all tissues depths.
