In Malta, Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary, and Stefan Cordina, Deputy Mayor, have introduced a pilot lighting project in Attard with the deployment of the first pedestrian crossing LED lighting in Mosta Road.

LED traffic lighting systems in Attard, Malta

Smart Light Systems, in partnership with the Attard Local Council, has initiated the pilot project.

The pedestrian crossing lighting uses eco-friendly LED lights that are powered by a solar panel system and hence do not use state’s electricity. The LED lights turn on immediately when natural light drops below a particular level. With the new lighting installation, motorists can easily notice the existence of a pedestrian crossing the area.

Smart Light Systems has also improved the pedestrian crossing to comply with road regulations. The crossing now features a black and white pole that is increased 3 m from the ground level. The pole, along with the LED lighting, enhances the view of the pedestrian crossing and ensures pedestrians safety.
