Pepperl+Fuchs Releases Optical Data Couplers to Transmit Ethernet Topologies

Pepperl+Fuchs has released a series of optical data couplers that can transmit live video signals and other communication data.

The LS680 optical data couplers do not feature operating controls such as potentiometers, switches, and push buttons and does not need programming.

Pepperl+Fuchs

data transmitter has the potential to transmit TCP/IP, PROFINET, and Ethernet IP topologies without any alterations. It has a threshold distance of 180 m and transmits signals between 0 and 150 m. The optical data coupler transmits data at 100 MBit/s through a 100 Base-TX interface. It features a bar graph LED display that simplifies troubleshooting and indicates the quality of the optical signal. The optical data coupler has a wide beam angle and two inbuilt alignment LEDs.

The device aids in positioning the moving stacker cranes / vehicles in Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems. It also has the ability to transfer images from a camera and regain the location of pallet pick-ups. The optical data coupler transmits data in material transfer systems, automated guided vehicles and carts, mobile transport units, and overhead monorail systems.
