Solar Liberty Completes Rooftop Solar System Installation at Greater Rochester International Airport

A New York-based qualified installer and contractor of solar systems, Solar Liberty Energy Systems has completed the deployment of solar photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA) building.

The solar power project comprise of solar panel deployment of two 50,000 W arrays and is intended for further expansion in the future. Solar Liberty stated that the airport building could save an estimated $641,929 based on the 25-year operating life of the panels.

The solar systems are anticipated to produce about 94,184 kWh of electricity annually that equals the power consumption of nearly 14 average households. The system has no moving parts and does not require fuel for operation. The installation will assist the GRIA to eliminate 68 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

A New York State Energy Research and Development Authority grant financed a part of the solar power project. The Monroe County Airport Authority funded the remaining amount for the project via a renewal and replacement fund.
