Co-location provider and data center company Stargate Holdings Corp., a leader in the global IT services industry, announced today that its new 86,000 square-foot high-security co-location data center in Chicago's western suburbs will offer fiber connectivity from AboveNet, Inc., a leading provider of fiber-based connectivity solutions.
"Access to AboveNet's latest generation fiber optic infrastructure is a tremendous value to the companies Stargate is serving in this unique data center," says G. Gary Chaffin, CEO of Stargate. "It enables us to leverage their key optical network assets to provide network connectivity to Stargate customers throughout Chicagoland."
Companies are drawn to data centers located outside central business districts where they support disaster recovery requirements and regulations by backing up mission-critical applications and data. Chaffin says, "The companies signing on to our facility are looking for assurances with regard to co-location, high-density and disaster recovery. Now, because we are working with AboveNet, these companies get more; they can have custom engineered fiber optic connectivity solutions to the Internet, carrier hotels, commercial buildings and other data centers. They obtain greater network cost efficiencies, greater scalability and flexibility for future growth."
