UTC Introduces Fiber-Optic Network Certification Course for Professionals

Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) has created a new program that enables professionals involved in fiber-optic networks to be officially certified in optical fiber network technologies.

UTC will collaborate with The Light Brigade, a fiber-optic training institute, to get proper training before the UTC Fiber Optics Professional (FOP) Level 1, 2, and 3 Certification examinations.

The certification examination will delve into a number of topics such as developing aerial and underground optical fiber network for transmission and distribution. Vital parameters such as operation, troubleshooting, testing, and installation of fiber-optic networks using loose tube, ADSS and OPGW optical fiber cables will be covered.

The certification program is ideal for management staff, supervisors, designers and utility engineers for the UTC FOP Level 2 and Level 3 and for supervisors, technicians and utility installers for UTC FOP Level 1.

UTC’s President, William R. Moroney stated that the certifications will be valuable for IT professionals, utility telecom and supervisors.
