Sulfurcell’s CIGSe Thin Film Solar Module Achieves 12.6% Efficiency

TÜV Rheinland announced that Sulfurcell’s second generation photovoltaic (PV) module has obtained an efficiency of 12.6%.

Sulfurcell, manufacturer of CIGS/CIGSe thin-film solar cells, will begin the shipment of its 94 W high efficiency solar module from the third-quarter of 2011.

Sulfurcell has been manufacturing and shipping the thin-solar modules since 2005 and now has increased its production capability to 35 MW. The company develops complete solutions for commercial rooftop, solar construction and BIPV sectors. It is also setting up integrators and partner installers in North America.

Sulfurcell also announced that funds obtained through equity financing will be utilized for procuring additional CIGSe devices. The funds will also be utilized for research and development work to achieve 14% efficiency in the upcoming months.

Sulfurcell’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nikolaus Meyer stated that the company is pleased to attain the validation of 12.6% efficiency CIGS solar modules.
