UPN Signs 10-Year Fiber-Optic Network Deal with Houston County School District

Unite Private Networks (UPN) declared that it has inked a contract with Houston County Schools to develop an optical fiber communication network in Perry and Warner Robins, Georgia.

The company has signed a 10 year contract for Wide Area Network (WAN) services with Houston County Schools. The 66 mile fiber-optic network will offer a substantial boost in the bandwidth capacity for the District.

UPN, currently providing fiber-optic broadband services in U.S 14 states, offers fiber-based communications networks to enterprise business customers, data centers, carriers, and schools.

UPN’s Executive VP, Rob Oyler stated that the fiber-optic network would allow Houston Schools to look ahead into the future. Oyler added that the project would change the way in which broadband services are offered in Houston County in the future.

Houston County Schools’ Director of IT, Sharon Lunceford commented that the fiber-optic project would allow the district to prepare for technology growth in the upcoming years.
