Brazil and Venezuela Complete Fiber-Optic Cable Project

Venezuela's telecommunications operator, Compania Anonima Nacional Telefonos de Venezuela announced that it has completed connecting an optical fiber cable that connects the country’s southern region to the northern part of Brazil.

Venezuelan officials stated that the fiber-optic project would enhance the internet services in Manaus, Brazil. The officials also added that the fiber-optic project would also improve the relations between the two countries.

Venezuela's Minister of Science, Technology and Industry, Ricardo Menendez commented that foreign ministers of both the countries have met and discussed about other development projects such as finance and agriculture.

Both countries have recently completed an underwater fiber-optic cable that connects Cuba and Venezuela. The fiber-optic cable will offer faster telephone and internet services. Menendez also added that the government is planning to substantially enhance the fiber-optic wiring within the country.
