GAO Comm Unveils Optical-to-Electric Media Converter for Switching Applications

GAO Comm, provider of communication test instruments, has unveiled a new optical-to-electric media converter that is suitable for forwarding, storing and switching applications.

The MA830AS 10/100 Mbps media converter can expand the transmission network distance from 100 m over a copper wire to 120 km.

MA830AS Optical-to-Electric Converter

The optical-to-electric media converter delivers stable operation over a long time period, consumes minimum power and has low heat dissipation. It supports 100Base-FX and 10/100Base-TX network connection media and enables the transmission of packets with a length of up to 1552 bytes.

The MA830AS allows crossing of twisted pair ports for convenient system installation and debugging. It also enables the selection of various kinds of fiber ports such as single-fiber single-mode, dual-fiber single-mode and dual-fiber multi-mode. A spanning tree protocol is also provided to form an optical network.
