Smart Light Systems Installs Eco-Friendly Lighting Systems in Attard Pedestrian Crossing

Smart Light Systems has installed eco-friendly lighting solutions at the pedestrian crossing in Attard, as part of a pilot project. The Deputy Mayor, Stefan Cordina and the Parliamentary Secretary, Chris Said unveiled the pilot project by installing the first lighting at the pedestrian crossing in Mosta Road.

The Attard council and Smart Light Systems collaborated for the pilot project. The crossing is illuminated with LEDs that consume renewable energy and do not produce any carbon emissions. In addition, the LEDs are powered using a solar panel solution.

The pedestrian crossing features a black and white pole that is positioned three metres above the ground. The combination of black and white pole and the LED lighting maximizes the visibility level of the pedestrian crossing, thus increasing the safety aspect.

Smart Light Systems’ Director, Jonathan Borg stated that Malta has researched and designed the lighting system, which complies with the German and EU standards. He added that it was the first time the company is entering the street lighting area.
