Plainfield to Buy 90 LED Street Lights from Lighting Solutions of Illinois

Plainfield officials have approved the acquisition of 90 LED street lights from Lighting Solutions of Illinois, a Wheaton-based lighting company. A grant from Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block facilitates the purchase of the LED lights.

According to the village trustees, the LED lamps offer more energy savings compared to mercury vapor street lights. In addition, the LED bulbs offer 30% more brightness and feature 10 times more operating life compared to mercury lamps. The village will be installed with new LED lamps across a wide range of subdivisions.

In addition, the officials have approved a payment of $728,208 to Joliet-based P.T. Ferro Construction for road repairs through an Emergency Road Repair Grant. The projects include 135th Street, 127th Street, Ridge Road, Indian Boundary Road, Countyline Road and Walkers Road.
