Avvio Networks Launches Six Port 10 Gb Independent Optical Repeater

Provider of intelligent optical networking products, Avvio Networks has expanded its A2050/A2500 portfolio of optical data transport modules with the introduction of the AM2586, a low-cost 6 port 10 Gb/s protocol independent repeater for applications in enterprise, service provider and government networks.

Avvio Networks' Six Port 10Gb Independent Optical Repeater, the AM2586

The AM2586’s protocol independent architecture allows service providers to supply any port or protocol. The repeater can support any protocol combination on a single module. The STM64 SDH (with or without FEC), 10G Ethernet and OC-192 SONET are some of the protocols endorsed by the optical data transport module.

The optical data transport module can be setup as three sets of bidirectional repeaters or for broadcast operation (1:N), wavelength shifting and automatic protection switching (APS). It utilizes user-friendly, industry-standard XFPs such as tunable DWDM XFPs to enable  re-configuration and field upgrades.

The AM2586 is accommodated in a single slot of Avvio Networks’ A2500 or A2050 Chassis and can be utilized with the company’s portfolio of optical add/drop multiplexers (OADMs) and EDFAs to offer a full end-to-end transport solution.
