Optelian Introduces Ethernet Aggregation Card with Optical Transport Network Support

Manufacturer of optical transport solutions, Optelian has unveiled a new Ethernet aggregation card with Optical Transport Network (OTN) support.

Optelian's New Carrier-Class Ethernet Aggregation Card with OTN Transport Capability

The card is suitable for metro, backhaul and Ethernet access networking applications.

The aggregation card improves the abilities Optelian’s LightGAIN Optical Networking System. It provides complete support for OTN on its 10 Gbps trunk interfaces and offers intelligent Layer 2 switching functionality. In addition, the card can aggregate a maximum of eight GbE clients on a 10 GbE line signal for effective utilization in packet-based networks.

The dual 10 Gbps trunk ports facilitate the connection of multiple cards in a ring or linear topology. The Ethernet aggregation card supports E-LAN and E-Line type services by utilizing IEEE 802.1ad Provider Bridging (Q-in-Q). Furthermore, it supports Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) with advanced and customizable load balancing algorithms. In addition, the card supports OTN wrapping on each trunk interfaces with standard Super forward error correction (FEC) or G.709 FEC.
