iWatt Launches Digital LED Driver IC for Commercial LED Lighting Applications

Developer of digital power supply control ICs, iWatt has released a new two-stage, power-factor-corrected (PFC) digital LED Driver IC for offline industrial and commercial LED lighting applications.

The iW3614 AC/DC Digital PWM controller is suitable for non-isolated and isolated LED drivers in incandescent replacement lamps.

The iW3614 includes a two-stage PFC scheme incorporated on a single chip. It offers minimized size and component costs, durability, power efficiency and flicker-free operation with standard wall dimmers. In addition, the LED driver IC features a front-stage boost converter that allows PF of more than 0.90, and the PWM driver stage reduces ripple current at the output level.

The LED driver IC offers safety features such as over-temperature thermal shutdown, input over-voltage protection, and LED open/short circuit protection. By minimizing the output ripple current in the IC, provides benefits in reliability, cost and size as well as low output capacitors.
