AUREA Technology Launches All-in-One DUAL Single Photon-Counting Module

AUREA Technology has introduced a new, all-in-one DUAL single photon-counting module called the SPD_A_M2. The module is a part of high quantum efficiency and low noise single photon detectors with near infrared wavelength range of 900 to 1700 nm.

The thermoelectric coolers and Geiger-mode InGaAs avalanche photodiodes of the detector assure a constant and low dark count with a performance better than 5.0x10-6 per ns. The SPD_A’s performance is better than PMTs or photomultipliers as it has better extraordinary sensitivity in high-level sensing applications.

The quantum efficiency of most of the photomultipliers available in the market is less than 1% in the near infrared wavelength range, while the SPD_A has a quantum efficiency that can be adjusted up to 25%.

The SPD_A is a true plug-and-play detector that enables easy connections to computers through a USB interface. With this feature, end users can easily modify the detection efficiency and tune gate delay and width. End-users can also develop their own Graphical User Interface using C++ or LabView for the detectors, although they are available with their own Graphical User Interface.

The SPD_A can be used for Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC), eye safe laser ranging LIDAR, single photon counting, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), fluorescence, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and spectroscopy.
