Zeon to Construct Optical Film Factory for LCD TVs

Manufacturer of specialty synthetic rubber, Zeon will construct a new optical film factory in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture.

The factory will manufacture optical films for LCD to meet the increasing demand for protective films in tablet computers and LCD TVs.

Zeon will construct the optical film factory in the next three years. In addition, the company will ship the solutions from the Tsuruga port near the Sea of Japan to factories that manufacture LCDs in South Korea and China. After analyzing the developments associated with the demand for optical films and film technological innovations, Zeon will calculate the production capacity of the factory.

Seiichi Okada, the Board Member at Zeon, stated that the company would equip itself to offer solutions in time due to the growth in technologies associated with LCDs.
