Protokraft Launches Fiber Optic Transceivers for Harsh Environments

Designer and producer of ultra-speed optoelectronic parts and subsystems, Protokraft has introduced a new line of fiber optic transceivers called the Razor Series.

The transceivers with duplex LC interfaces enhance the performance and durability of optical network in adverse environment and are suitable for mining, military, industrial, petrochemical and utility applications.

Protokraft's Razor Series Fiber Optic Transceivers with Duplex LC Connector Interface

The Razor Series comprises optoelectronic receiver and transmitter capabilities that are combined into a surface fitted PCB assembly with a duplex LC connector interface. It endorses both quick or Gigabit Ethernet, ARINC 818, Fibre Channel, ARINC 664, sFPDP and other protocols for multimode fiber-optic connections. All versions comply with ANSI or IEEE standards.

The Razor Series is ultra performance or 850 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). The optical receivers comprise limiting post-amplifiers, InGaAs or GaAs PIN and preamplifier assemblies. Its electrical interface is the PCB pin assembly that allows interconnection to ultra speed electrical communication ports for applications in adverse conditions. The fiber optic transceivers have better thermal features and are resistant to shock and vibration. They feature aluminum housings that are resistant to corrosion and offer better EMI/RFI performance.

The Razor Series¡¦ normal operating temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C and storage temperature range is from -55°C to +100°C. It functions at connection distances of up to 550 m and can be operated from +3.3 V DC power supplies.
