Manufacturer of semiconductor solutions, Maxim Integrated Products has launched a new LED driver with an improved architecture that offers dimmable, flicker-free operation with cut-angle dimmers and electronic transformers.
The MAX16840 produces a power of up to 20 W and can operates under the temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
The MAX16840 LED driver utilizes a patent-pending technique for controlling the input current of the light. The active shaping of input current facilitates flicker-free performance with the dimmers and electronic transformers. This feature allows LED lamp designers to make drop-in alternatives for halogen MR16s without the need of expensive infrastructural upgrades.
The LED driver comes in a 10-pin TDFN package with 3mm x 3mm dimensions and an integrated switching MOSFET. In addition, it can be engineered without any electrolytic capacitors, which increase the operating life of the LED lamp and minimize the size and cost of the driver.
