Mazak Optonics, manufacturer of 2-D and 3-D laser machines, has introduced a new servo head with intelligent sensors that monitor laser-processing environment. The servo head decreases piercing times and enhances the cutting process for a number of applications.
Mazak Optonics offers the servo head as customary equipment on Mazak HyperTurbo, SuperTurbo MkIII and HyperGear line of laser-cutting equipment. The latest Mazak servo technology enhances the efficiency of piercing time particularly in mild steel solutions from 0.375² to 0.750². It eradicates or considerably decreases the requirement for side blow in piercing processes.
The servo head’s sensors observe the beam reflection to detect piercing and automatically alert the control to shift to the cutting process of the program. The machine shifts instantly from the piercing procedure to the beginning of the cutting process due to the auto-focus tuning feature that is carried out on the W-axis. The latest sensor technology and servo head decreases a standard nest cutting time by 30%.
The sensors also observe the beam for inferior cutting environment to sustain the cutting process. In addition, the servo head enhances the overall edge quality for cutting mild steel plates having a thickness of up to 1².
