Schwind Introduces SmartTech Laser System at ESCRS

Schwind announced that it has introduced a new laser solution at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).

SmartTech Laser System

The SmartTech Laser solution, based on nanosecond laser technology, utilizes the concept of plasma generation for separating the corneal tissue. A new microchip laser is utilized instead of the complicated technology of a femtosecond laser.

The laser solution has an aberration-free optical system and a short wavelength in the UV range. The low-density plasma of the SmartTech Laser when integrated with the short wavelength assures fine structures. This facilitates in providing smooth and accurate cutting surfaces in the LASIK flap surgeries. The system is also ideal for therapeutic applications such as corneal inlays, corneal rings and lamellar keratoplasty.

The SmartTech Laser system reduces costs incurred during the overall product life cycle. High operating safety and low cost of maintenance offered by the laser system will benefit users. It can also be used with the SCHWIND AMARIS product series and with all excimer laser solutions.
