Vodacom Business Deploys Fiber-Optic Networks in Western Cape Regions

Vodacom Business has initiated the deployment of fiber-optic network in the Western Cape region after completing its fiber network projects in major metropolitan regions.

The company is deploying a 48 km cable in Somerset West including the other parts of the Stellenbosch Road/Somerset West and extending across the N2 to Mitchells Plain.

A 38 km fiber-optic cable has been laid in Stellenbosch, Paarl and Somerset West and another 49 km cable has been deployed in Paarl and Wellington. In addition, Vodacom Business is planning to partner with Neotel and MTN to construct a nationwide fiber-optic network linking Gauteng and the coastal cities.

Vodacom Business’ Managing Executive for Products and Marketing, Ermano Quartero remarked that 23 km of fiber-optic cable deployment stretches from Stellenbosch to Kuilsriver and extends between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
