Daylight Introduces Aries Laser System for Fiber Test Markets

Developer of sophisticated molecular detection solutions, Daylight Solutions has unveiled an External Cavity quantum cascade Laser (ECqcL) that offers more than 2 W of peak pulsed or continuous wave power and functions at 4.6 µm. The Aries ECqcL is the latest product in the company’s ECqcL series.

The Aries laser system offer CW operation up to 35 °C with near diffraction limited beam quality. The ECqcL’s patented design implements sophisticated chip performance improvements and assures long-term reliability.

Daylight Solutions’ Product Marketing Manager, Michael Radunsky stated that the laser solution would be suitable for damage testing, scene generation, infrared countermeasures development, and fiber test markets. He added that the company developed the laser solution to specifically address customers who are looking out for medium-power mid-IR solutions. Radunsky commented that the Aries series will be expanded later in the year to provide LWIR for beaconing and other applications.      

Daylight has showcased the Aries laser solution at the Photonics West Expo held in San Francisco.
