CVI Melles Griot, a UK-based producer of high-quality optical components such as prisms, lenses and filters, has expanded its production competencies for its polarization component products.
Helmut Kessler, CVI Melles Griot’s European General Manager, stated that the company’s latest crystal optics production capabilities would expand its product line of calcite polarizers, quartz waveplates, mica waveplates and general crystal optics.
CVI Melles Griot is utilizing the Steug and Reuter cleaving method to produce high-quality mica waveplates. The new method offers incomparable cleanliness, greater performing polarization retardation and strict tolerances.
CVI Melles Griot is now utilizing an X-Ray diffractometer for cleaving crystals within arc seconds of the needed orientation and an advanced metrology system to precisely control the position of the crystal axis during the cleaving procedure. This patented process with strict tolerances produces enhanced thermal stability and angle performance of waveplates particularly for ultraviolet with shorter wavelengths.
The company’s improved manufacturing competencies enable high-production flexibility and high-quality products to suit customers needs.
