Provider of protocol converter devices, Ultra Electronics DNE Technologies has launched a new Satellite Fiber Link (SFL) module for the CV-MCU2+ platform. The optical SFL modules offer an enhanced alternative to coaxial cables for deploying L-band signals between an antenna and a satellite terminal.
The SFL modules allow long-range RF transmission and retain a high level of signal quality. This enables users to move the satellite terminals into protected regions, in addition to remoting the antenna in a favorable location for transmission. Users, in addition to enhanced drive distances, can gain from the enhanced security of information, immunity to interference, and electrical isolation that is offered by the fiber-optic signals.
The SFL modules provide a wide range of operation and seamlessly pass passing L-band signals without hindering the satellite modems’ performance. The RF input range enables users to configure a satellite terminal device without calibration.
DNE Technologies’ VP of Sales and Marketing stated that the satellite terminal integrators would have a substantial size and weight savings by integrating L-band IFL fiber interfaces, TRI-TAC, and Ethernet in a 1RU chassis.
