Bell Aliant to Expand Fibre-Optic Network in Halifax

Bell Aliant announced that it will invest $55 million for the expansion of fibre-optic network in the region of Halifax. The fibre-optic network expansion would help the company to service around 190,000 businesses and homes.

The government of Nova Scotia has offered $2 million as part of the development of the project. Bell Aliant informed that the network service will be available to consumers in the region of Halifax by the middle of 2011. The fibre-optic network was unveiled for Nova Scotia in the previous spring with the launch amounting for $15-million in Sydney.

The Chief Executive Officer and President at Bell Aliant, Karen Sheriff stated that there is an increasing demand for bandwidth.
