Rohm Unveils Second-Generation Organic EL Lighting Panel at LED and OLED Lighting Technology Expo

Rohm has showcased its second-generation organic EL lighting panel at the 3rd LED/OLED Lighting Technology Expo, held in Tokyo. The company developed the lighting panel that utilizes a phosphorescent material to emit red light.

The organic EL lighting panel developed by using a phosphorescent material prototyped by Rohm

The organic EL lighting panel includes a device structure known as Hybrid MPE (multi photon emission) that is created by piling devices that produce lights with diverse wavelengths. Within the device structure, fluorescent materials are utilized for blue and green light emissions as well as a phosphorescent material is utilized for red light emission.

The lighting panel delivers a luminous efficiency of 25-30 lm/W that is comparatively high for a panel manufactured in volume. The technology utilized in the development of the panel was used for an organic EL lighting panel, which Lumiotec intends to begin volume shipping in January 2011.  Lumiotec manufactures solutions with the use of Rohm’s technologies.
