BT to Bring Fiber-Optic Broadband Services in Britain’s Market Towns

BT, provider of fiber-optic broadband services, announced that 41 towns in Britain will receive access to the fiber-optic broadband services in the near future.

Businesses and residents located in the 41 towns will gain from maximum download speeds of 40 Mbps. Majority of the towns are located in England, but some of them are also located in Wales and Scotland. The broadband installation program would be completed by spring 2012.

According to BT, the scheme would offer ultrafast broadband to 300,000 properties. The company however added that some places in these locations would be not connected because of technical and economic limitations. The company also announced that six rural regions would be included in the broadband installation schedule.

BT Openreach’s Chief Executive, Steve Robertson commented that the inclusion of the 41 towns in the broadband rollout plan demonstrates the company’s dedication to deliver solutions for local communities.
